I’ll be interviewing our own Dr. Robin Downing, PetConnection’s awesome veterinary pain management expert, this evening at 9 PM Eastern/6 PM Pacific over the Animal Wise Radio network. The interview kicks off the third weekend of the Thirteenth Annual Chat Month on ConnectedByPets.com (formerly PetHobbyist.com).

Topics we’ll be tossing around include:

How much more we now know now about animal pain than we used toThe AAHA/AAFP Pain Mgmt
Guidelines for Dogs and Cats, formalizing a directive to make pain the
fourth vital signThe multitude of options available to painful animals — both acute and
chronic painHow to “look” for pain in your pet and then what to do about itThe founding of the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management,
and the creation of a pain management credential — the Certified
Veterinary Pain Practitioner (CVPP) — and what this means to pet owners

If you’d like a chance to ask questions of Dr. Downing, please join us in the Auditorium on the ConnectedByPets.com site; no registration is necessary.

You can also listen on any browser or on your mobile device. Learn more about how to listen and participate here.

Dr. Downing is director of The Downing Center for Animal Pain Management, the first comprehensive pain prevention and management practice for pets in Northern Colorado. She is a certified veterinary acupuncturist, a certified canine rehabilitation practitioner, a certified Tui Na practitioner (Chi Institute), is certified in canine medical massage and animal chiropractic. She is one of a handful of veterinarians to hold the Diplomate credential in the American Academy of Pain Management, the United States’ largest interdisciplinary human pain management organization.

In 2009, Dr. Downing became the first and only veterinarian to earn the designation Certified Pain Educator from the American Society of Pain Educators.

We’ll “see” you there!
