Police Dog Gets Past Python and Other Animals to Find Pot Stash

A police dog near Genoa, Italy, was able to get past an alleged drug dealer’s menagerie which included a cat, a rabbit, and a seven-foot-long python to sniff out a large stash of marijuana, according to ANSA.

According to the report, the little zoo was there to foil the noses of police dogs. But the dog, named Umos, was not distracted, and even the python didn’t faze him.

Umos “soon turfed out the snake and we found the man’s cannabis as well as equipment to process it,” police said. “He was fearless.”

I am still on my trip, and as we left Italy yesterday, we saw this story on the TV news at the train station. It had “Dogster” written all over it. :)

(We are now in Athens, leaving soon for Santorini. Athens is a fun and lively and beautiful place, but it’s hard for me to be here because of the terrible situation with homeless dogs. They are everywhere. Very sad, and unexpected. I’m going to do an article on this when I get back and have a chance to do more research.)
