This was posted on facebook last night. I’ve seen it before but I cant figure out where on earth it came from to give credit. The website listed at the bottom of the image sadly is defunct. I’d love to give the artist a huge shout out – this graphic is BRILLIANT. I cant tell you how many people approach my dogs screaming and yelling (#5) and put their hands straight on top of their heads (#2) even after I tell them not to. Neither of them like it and will move their heads to avoid it at all costs (even from me). Its amazing to me how many ADULTS do not know how to approach a strange new dog either. Shockingly, the worst offenders are usually the ones that HAVE dogs of their own.
As adults its our job to protect our children (and our dogs) and teach them to avoid compromising positions. Kinda hard when the adults have no clue either. They can be downright rude about it too. I’ve actually been told by a nasty parent, “do not correct my child, Im the parent and have things under control”. Wow! Seriously, you don’t or I wouldn’t have had to correct your child… Please don’t touch MY dog… Well, why would I expect anything different when they are complete personal space abusers and have such a profound sense of entitlement.
I’m sure Im not alone in this. What sort of “interactions” have you had with your dog(s) and John Q. Public?
